Flow cytometry facilitates quantitative, multiparameter analysis of cell populations based on the expression of cell surface and/or intracellular molecules. R&D Systems offers a wide range of biotin-, fluorescein-, phycoerythrin-, or allophycocyanin-conjugated monoclonal antibodies specifically designed to monitor the presence of cytokines and cytokine receptors as well as Fluorokine® kits; labeled cytokines that can be used to monitor the presence of cytokine receptors.

Fluorokine® Kits
Fluorokine Receptor Detection kits utilize labeled ligands to detect cell surface receptors by flow cytometry. These kits can be used to quantitatively determine the percentage of cells bearing functional receptors or to estimate cell surface receptor density. Fluorokine Receptor Detection Kits are available to study receptors for a range of cytokines, chemokines, and growth factors.

Intracellular Staining
Intracellular staining reagents offer a rapid and simple method to identify cells that secrete selected cytokines, e.g. Th1 vs. Th2. A variety of fluorochrome-labeled isotype controls, conjugated with the same fluorochrome to protein ratio, are available to aid in assessing background staining.
