Flow Cytometry Protocols
Flow cytometry is a powerful tool often used for phenotyping cell populations. With the advent of multi-color flow cytometry, researchers now have the ability to assess the expression levels of multiple antigens simultaneously. Because each cell of a population is assessed independently, small, but potentially important, subpopulations can be isolated and studied. Although best known for its use in phenotyping, flow cytometry can also provide information about cell size, cell cycle stage, ion fluctuations (Ca2+/pH), metabolic activity, and apoptosis.
The following protocols have been optimized and are currently used in R&D Systems Flow Cytometry Laboratory.
