Morphogens, Pattern Formation & Cell Fate
Morphogens are diffusible factors that govern tissue morphology. Target cell populations respond to morphogens in a concentration dependent manner, such that the gradient of morphogen concentration determines the resulting gene expression and cellular differentiation. In addition to specific effects on single cells, morphogens coordinate collective cell growth toward formation of the final tissue pattern. These biological actions make morphogens critical factors in the regulation of development and differentiation. R&D Systems offers a range of quality products to study the events controlling embryonic development, tissue differentiation, cell adhesion and migration, as well as tumorigenesis and cancer induction and progression. Our products include proteins related to Notch, Hedgehog, TGF-beta, Wnt and other essential morphogen cell signaling pathways.
