Luminex® xMAP™ technology is based on the ability to measure multiple analytes in a single, sample volume. The key to this technology is the use of microparticle beads. These polystyrene beads are dyed with different ratios of two fluorochromes such that 100 unique spectral addresses are created. Each address is assigned a bead region number. When measuring multiple analytes in the same sample, each analyte needs to use a different bead region to differentiate it from the others. The chart below summarizes which bead regions are used for each of our Fluorokine MAP panel analytes.
