SCGF-alpha Promotes Proliferation of E16 Cells. Recombinant Human SCGF-alpha/CLEC11a (Catalog # 1904-SC), in the presence of Recombinant Mouse SCF (Catalog # 455-MC), Recombinant Mouse Thrombopoietin (Catalog # 488-TO), and Recombinant Mouse Flt-3 Ligand (Catalog # 488-TO), stimulates dose-dependent proliferation of the E16 rat liver mononuclear cell line. Cell proliferation was assessed in a fluorometric assay using the redox sensitive dye Resazurin (Catalog # AR002).

Stem Cell Growth Factor (SCGF), also known as CLEC11a, LSLCL, and P47, is a secreted glycoprotein that is expressed in hematopoietic tissues and acts as a growth factor for primitive hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells. It exists as two different isoforms, SCGF-alpha and SCGF-beta. SCGF-alpha is the full length human form while SCGF-beta is a truncated variant that has a 78 amino acid residue deletion and lacks a functional calcium-dependent carbohydrate-recognition domain. SCGF acts in cooperation with other hematopoietic stem cell growth factors, including IL-3, Flt-3, and GM-CSF, to stimulate the proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic precursor cells.
