Activin A: Products
Activin A is a widely expressed homodimeric TGF-beta superfamily cytokine that plays a role in tissue morphogenesis and repair, fibrosis, inflammation, neural development, hematopoiesis, reproductive system function, and carcinogenesis. The Activin beta A chain is also a subunit of heterodimeric Activin AB and Activin AC. Activin A signals through complexes of Activin RIIA and Activin RIB/ALK-4. Its bioavailability is regulated by cell-associated decoy molecules (BAMBI, Betaglycan, Cripto), secreted proteins (a2-Macroglobulin, Follistatin, FLRG), and intracellular incorporation of the beta A subunit into Activin AC or Inhibin A.
