Specificity

Detects recombinant mouse Carboxylesterase 3/CES3 in direct ELISAs and Western blots. Detects intrinsic CES3 in mouse and rat tissues in Western blots. In direct ELISAs, less than 1% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) CES1, rhCES2, recombinant mouse (rm) CES2, and rmCES5 is observed.

Product Feature: CoraFluor Probes for TR-FRET

CoraFluor™ 1, amine reactive (Catalog:7920) and CoraFluor™ 2, amine reactive (Catalog # 7950) are terbium-based probes that have been developed for use as TR-FRET donors. They emit wavelengths compatible with commonly used fluorescent acceptor dyes such as BODIPY® (or BDY) and Janelia Fluor® dyes, FITC (Catalog # 5440), TMR and Cyanine 5 (Catalog # 5436). CoraFluor™ fluorescence is brighter and more stable in biological media than existing TR-FRET donors, leading to enhanced sensitivity and improved data generation. CoraFluor™ 1 exhibits excitation upon exposure to a 337 nm UV laser.

Background: Carboxylesterase 3/CES3

Carboxylesterase 3 is a member of a large multigene family. The enzymes encoded by these genes are responsible for the hydrolysis of ester- and amide-bond-containing drugs such as cocaine and heroin. They also hydrolize long-chain fatty acid esters and thioesters. The specific function of this enzyme has not yet been determined; however, it is speculated that carboxylesterases may play a role in lipid metabolism and/or the blood-brain barrier system.
