Runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), also called CBFA1, is a DNA-binding subunit that heterodimerizes with CBF-beta to form a transcription factor that plays a role in osteoblast differentiation. By alternative splicing, several isoforms exist. Defects in CBFA1 are associated with cleidocranial dysplasia and dental abnormalities.
