POLRMT, also known as DNA-directed RNA polymerase, mitochondrial, is a 246 amino acid protein that is 28 kDa, catalyzes the transcription of mitochondrial DNA into RNA using the four ribonucleoside triphosphates as substrates. This protein is currently being studied for research on autosomal dominant progressive external ophthalmoplegia, essential thrombocythemia, ophthalmoplegia, immunodeficiency, and malaria.
