Immunoprecipitation: p70 S6 Kinase beta/S6K2 Antibody [NB100-1544] - Detection of human S6K2 by western blot of immunoprecipitates. Samples: Whole cell lysate (1.0 mg per IP reaction; 20% of IP loaded) from HeLa cells prepared using NETN lysis buffer. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-S6K2 antibody NB100-1544 used for IP at 3 ug per reaction. S6K2 was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-S6K2 antibody NB100-1545. For blotting immunoprecipitated S6K2, NB100-1545 was used at 1 ug/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 30 seconds.

Background: p70 S6 Kinase beta

This gene encodes a member of the RSK (ribosomal S6 kinase) family of serine/threonine kinases. This kinase contains 2 nonidentical kinase catalytic domains and phosphorylates the S6 ribosomal protein and eucaryotic translation initiation factor 4B (eIF4B). Phosphorylation of S6 leads to an increase in protein synthesis and cell proliferation.
