Biological ActivityPotent, selective and competitive histamine H2 receptor antagonist (pA2 = 6.95 - 7.2). Inhibits gastric acid secretion induced by histamine, pentagastrin, bethanecol and food in vivo. Also inhibits aspirin-induced gastric lesions.
