Immunoprecipitation:Thioredoxin Reductase 1/TRXR1 AntibodyNBP3-30194] -Detection of human Thioredoxin Reductase 1 by western blot of immunoprecipitates. Samples: Whole cell lysate (0.5 or 1.0 mg per IP reaction; 20% of IP loaded) from HeLa cells prepared using NETN lysis buffer. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-Thioredoxin Reductase 1 antibody NBP3-30194 (lot NBP3-30194-1) used for IP at 6 µg per reaction. Thioredoxin Reductase 1 was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-Thioredoxin Reductase 1 antibody BL18351. For blotting immunoprecipitated Thioredoxin Reductase 1, NBP3-30194 was used at 1 µg/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 30 seconds.

Background: Thioredoxin Reductase 1/TRXR1

thioredoxin reductase 1 is a pyridine nucleotide oxidoreductase which reduces thioredoxins as well as other substrates, and plays a role in selenium metabolism and protection against oxidative stress. It is thought to function as a homodimer which uses FAD as a cofactor. Each subunit contains a selenocysteine residue which is required for the catalytic activity. Alternative splicing results in several transcript variants encoding the same protein. Additional transcript variants have been described but their biological validity has not been determined.
