Publication: Development of the SupersonicIEF Method for High-Throughput Charge Variant Analysis
This peer reviewed article describes the SupersonicIEF method, which enables higher throughput charge variant analysis using icIEF method – up to two to three times faster than standard methods, allowing more rapid analysis of biotherapeutics to facilitate greater understanding and better optimization for production and formulation.
Guide: Accelerating icIEF and Fractionation Workflows
This Guide to Assay Optimization for Maurice and MauriceFlex Systems describes the SupersonicIEF method that reduces the time to obtain charge heterogeneity results from 15 to 5 minutes. In addition, the FlexsonicIEF method enables faster mobilization and reduces total fractionation time by approximately 40 minutes.
Application Note: Rapid Analysis for High-Throughput Antibody Development
This application note describes a workflow for recombinant antibodies that were produced on a HT platform, purified, and then analyzed for charge heterogeneity with icIEF and CE-SDS. Both methods resolved distinct peaks in all antibodies, signifying important structural properties that could potentially influence the selection process.
Application Note: Rapid and High-Quality Analysis of Therapeutic Fusion Proteins with Maurice Turbo CE-SDS Cartridge
Explore how the Turbo CE-SDS method on the Maurice system provides a fast, reliable, and label-free approach for analyzing fusion proteins like Etanercept, with excellent linearity and reproducibility, facilitating high-throughput applications while ensuring data quality.

Learn how charge variant fractionation, when combined with downstream techniques such as high-resolution LC-MS, mass photometry and SPR, have accelerated workflows, improved sensitivity, and enabled deeper characterization of these complex molecules.
Accelerating Lead Identification Through Integrated Antibody Development and Characterization
This webinar demonstrates a scalable workflow to express and purify ~100 recombinant antibodies in a single run, an improved approach to CHO‑K1 cell line development using the TcBuster® transposon system, delivering significantly higher antibody titers and more productive clones, and high‑resolution biophysical methods using icIEF and CE-SDS techniques to rapidly assess size, purity, and charge heterogeneity—critical quality attributes that enable confident lead selection early in development. Together, these strategies provide an integrated path from antibody discovery to developable, manufacturable candidates—faster and with greater confidence.
SupersonicIEF Method for Faster Charge Heterogeneity Analysis
This webinar describes strategies to improve productivity and throughput for charge variant analysis. Will McElroy (Bio-Techne) shares details on the development of the SupersonicIEF method, which significantly reduces overall analysis time while preserving data quality, offering a practical solution for accelerating biotherapeutic characterization. Dr. Michael Grasso (Merck) describes the successful implementation and positive impact of this new method on the analysis of four different biotherapeutic classes (mAbs, Fc Fusion proteins, Bispecifics, and ADCs), demonstrating use cases where this faster method can improve resolution comppared to the standard method.

Maximizing Throughput with Advanced Maurice Cartridges and Methods
In her training series “Technical Tips from Monica Tyagi,” Dr. Tyagi discusses some simple but important methods and cartridges can significantly improve productivity using the Maurice platform for charge and size analysis using icIEF, icIEF-fractionation and CE-SDS.
From Your Peers
“If we think back to our method goals, one of the key pieces is that the assay needs to be high throughput. Our question was: Can you utilize the faster run time with the Turbo CE-SDS Cartridge without losing the resolution and separation of the homodimer and the heterodimer [from the CE-SDS Plus cartridge]? The results in fact, were very comparable… and we had the added benefit of reducing the run time from 50 minutes to 15 minutes.
The next step was incorporating [the Turbo CE-SDS Cartridge] into process development. We were able to support the entirety of process development from clone selection through downstream fractionation. We also tested linearity, repeatability, and accuracy, proving it can be used for GMP release and stability testing.” - Caroline Daniels, Shattuck Labs
