MauriceFlex and Maurice Capillary Electrophoresis Instruments

Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) Instruments

Accelerate biotherapeutic development with Maurice and MauriceFlex Systems

Meet the Maurice Family

The Maurice capillary electrophoresis instruments empower your biologic development journey. Offering scalable solutions to analyze monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), viral particles, proteins, antibody drug conjugates (ADCs), and more, these systems deliver diverse applications, including:

  • Protein charge analysis with imaged capillary isoelectric focusing (icIEF)
  • Protein size and impurity measurement with capillary electrophoresis-SDS (CE-SDS)
  • Charge isoform fraction collection with icIEF-based fractionation on the MauriceFlex for downstream characterization

How Maurice Technology Works

icIEF technology for analyzing charge heterogeneity of therapeutic proteins includes:

  • Whole-column imaging
  • No extra mobilization step after focusing
  • High resolution
  • Quantitative data
  • Minimal waste generation compared to  HPLC

CE-SDS technology for analyzing the size and purity of therapeutic proteins includes

  • Simplified sample prep and automated injection
  • No acrylamide
  • Quantitative data
  • Minimal waste generation compared to  SDS-PAGE

Biomolecular and Protein Fractionation on MauriceFlex enables deeper characterization of charge variants with fractionation

How it works:

  1. An applied electric field creates a pH gradient across the capillary inside the MauriceFlex cartridge
  2. Proteins separate by migrating to different pH values on the gradient, based on their individual isoelectric point (pI)
  3. Introduction of ammonium acetate chargers the pH gradient, mobilizing these separated proteins, and results in elution (fractionation)

Why Whole-Column Imaged Capillary Electrophoresis?

Whole column imaging, or imaged capillary isoelectric focusing (icIEF), saves you time and maintains resolution of peaks, in contrast to the extra mobilization step needed in conventional cIEF. Real-time imaging with icIEF also lets you troubleshoot and make necessary modifications during your run, thus saving you the need to repeat experiments.
