ARN 11391 is a potentiator of the IP₃-gated calcium channel ITPR1 (Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP₃) receptor type 1). It amplifies intracellular calcium ion signaling by acting directly on ITPR1. ARN 11391 also potentiates calcium signaling in cells expressing mutant ITPR1 which is associated with SCA29, a form of spinocerebellar ataxia.
