Biological Activity
BDY FL-X, SE is a fluorescent green BDY (BODIPY® or boron-dipyrromethene) dye for the labeling of amines. Exhibits similar excitation and emission spectra to FITC and TFAX 488 dyes. Displays high fluorescence quantum yield and high extinction coefficient and is relatively insensitive to pH change. This dye contains a C3 alkyl spacer between the fluorophore and the NHS ester group, reducing the potential for interactions between fluorophore and conjugated biomolecule. The hydrophobic nature of BDY FL makes it ideal for labeling lipids and cell membranes. BDY FL also exhibits narrow emission bandwidths and has a relatively long excited-state lifetime, making it ideal for fluorescence polarization assays and two-photon excitation (TPE) microscopy. Excitation maximum ~504 nM; emission maximum ~510 nM.
