Finasteride is an antiandrogen that inhibits type II 5α reductase (IC₅₀ = 65 nM). Suppresses the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. Reduces prostatic dihydrotestosterone levels and prostate size in vivo. Orally active.
