Product Description

Key information: Janelia Fluor® 549 ADA is a yellow fluorescent dye suitable for bacterial imaging applications, consisting of a bright Janelia Fluor® fluorophore bearing the unnatural aminoacid D-Alanine. Incorporation of fluorescent D-aminoacids in gram negative and positive bacteria can selectively label bacterial membranes, resulting in bright fluorescence around the bacteria and minimal or no signal detected inside.

Used for: selectively staining Staphylococcus aureus.

Application: confocal microscopy and flow cytometry.

Properties and Photophysical Data: Excitation and emission maxima (λ) are 549 nm and 571 nm, respectively; quantum yield = 0.88; extinction coefficient = 101,000 M-1cm-1; lactone-zwitterion equilibrium constant (KL-Z) = 3.5.
