Background: TSC22
Mouse TSC22 is an intracellular 18 kDa (143 aa) protein that belongs to the TSC22/Dip/Bun family of leucine zipper transcription regulators. Family members share a highly conserved central TSC box-leucine zipper domain that is important for dimerization and distinct N- and C-termini that participate in transcriptional regulation. TSC22 can homodimerize or heterodimerize with other family members to function as a repressive transcription factor. Mouse TSC22 shares 100% and 98.5% amino acid sequence homology with rat and human TSC22, respectively.
