BOK (Bcl-2-related Ovarian Killer) is a 23-kDa pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family of proteins. BOK has three conserved Bcl-2 homology domains (BH1, 2, and 3) and a C-terminal transmembrane domain, but does not contain the anti-apoptotic BH4 domain. BOK interacts strongly with some anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 proteins (Mcl-1, BHRF1, and A1) and not at all with pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 proteins. The tissue distribution of BOK is restricted to reproductive tissues and it is highly expressed in ovary, testis, and uterus.

Western blot shows lysates ofE. colitransfected with an inducible expression vector containing rat BOK. PVDF membrane was probed with 0.8 µg/mL Rabbit Anti-Rat BOK Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF825) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Rabbit IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF008). A specific band for BOK was detected at approximately 18 kDa (as indicated).
