Adrenergic beta-3 Receptor Agonists Small Molecules and Peptides

The adrenergic β₃ receptor (β₃-adrenoceptor) is a member of the adrenergic receptor group of G-protein-coupled receptors that also includes α_1A, α_1B, α_1D, α_2A, α_2B, α_2C, β₁ and β₂. They are located primarily in the small intestine, adipose tissue and vascular endothelium where they are involved in lipolysis, glucose uptake, cardio-inhibition and relaxation of colon, esophagus and bladder. The human β₃ receptor gene has been localized to chromosome 8 (8p12-8p11.1).
