Ciglitazone is a selective agonist at PPARγ (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ). Activates PPARγ with an EC₅₀ value of 3 μM in vitro, and is at least 33-fold selective over PPARα and δ. Antihyperglycemic in vivo.
