Background: CSRP2
CSRP2 (Cysteine‑rich protein 2/CRP2; also Cysteine and Glycine‑rich protein 2, LMO‑5 and SmLIM) is a 21‑22 kDa member of the CRP family of LIM domain‑containing proteins. It is expressed in arterial smooth muscle, hepatic stellate cells and fibroblasts. CSRP2 is up‑regulated by TGF‑ beta and down‑regulated by PDGF, and appears to interact with PIAS1 and CRP2‑BP, thus promoting STAT signaling. It also binds to SRF and GATA4 to initiate smooth muscle differentiation. Human CSRP2 is 193 amino acids (aa) in length and contains two 50 aa LIM (for lin11/isl1/mec3) domains that contain two zinc‑finger motifs (aa 10‑61 and 119‑170), an NLS between aa 64‑69, and a Gly‑rich C‑terminus (aa 176‑187). Full‑length human CSRP2 shares 79% aa identity with human CSRP1.
