Background: Integrin alpha 4/CD49d

Integrin alpha 4, also known as CD49d, associates with either Integrin beta 1 or beta 7 subunits to form heterodimers. Integrin alpha 4 beta 1 is expressed on peripheral lymphocytes, thymocytes, and monocytes, while Integrin alpha 4 beta 7 is expressed on peripheral lymphocytes and a small subset of thymocytes.
