Biological Activity

Roxindole hydrochloride is a dopamine D₂ autoreceptor agonist, with affinity for D₃, D₄ and 5-HT₁ receptors (pK_i values are 8.55, 8.93, 8.23, 9.42, 6.00 and 7.05 for human D₂, D₃, D₄, 5-HT_1A, 5-HT_1B and 5-HT_1D receptors). Inhibits 5-HT uptake and is antidepressant in vivo.
