BMI-1 Proteins and Enzymes

BMI-1 is a highly conserved class II member of the Polycomb group of genes which regulate diverse aspects of transcription, stem cell maintenance, cell proliferation, and oncogenesis. BMI-1 is a critical component of the large multimeric PRC1 complex that silences the transcription of many target genes. BMI-1 is highly conserved between species.
