Neuroligin 1 (neurexin ligand 1; also NL1) is a 116 kDa member of the type-B carboxyesterase/lipase family of proteins. Neuroligin 1 is postsynaptically expressed on neurons and initiates excitatory presynapse maturation through binding to a select isoform of beta-neurexin.
