PELI1/Pellino-1 Proteins and Enzymes

Pellino 1 is the mammalian homologue of Pellino, a Drosophila Pelle-interacting protein. Pelle is a serine-threonine kinase through which Toll signaling can occur. Pellino 1 is a scaffold protein involved in the IL-1 signaling pathway via its interaction with the complex containing IRAK kinases and TRAF6. Required for NF-kappa-B activation and IL-8 gene expression in response to IL-1.
