Background: INSL6

Insulin-like 6 (INSL6) is a member of the insulin family that is expressed in the testis by germ cells in the seminiferous tubules. Intracellular INSL6 is processed to a complex of two disulfide-linked peptides for secretion. Human and mouse INSL6 share 43% aa identity in the 213 aa, 28 kDa unprocessed form and 53% aa identity in the 64 aa, 8 kDa processed form.
