Hybridoma clone has been derived from hybridization of X63-Ag8-653 myeloma cells with spleen cells of Balb/c mice immunized with recombinant S. aureus enterotoxin B expressed in E. coli.

Specificity

Clone S222 reacts with enterotoxin B of St. aureus but does not cross-react with St.aureus enterotoxins A, C1, C2, C3, D and E.

Staphylococcus aureus are gram-positive bacteria that, although part of the normal flora of humans (nasal passages, skin and mucous membranes), have the potential to become opportunistic pathogens. S. aureus is a frequent cause of a wide range of infections and some bacterial strains have become resistant to many commonly used antibiotics.
