α-Cyclodextrin (α-CD) is a cylindrical oligosaccharide presenting a hydrophilic surface and a lipophilic cavity. α-Cyclodextrin can form inclusion complexes with a diverse range of hydrophobic compounds. These complexes increase the aqueous solubility, dissolution rate, and bioavailability of the guest compounds.
