Immunoprecipitation:alpha Desmuslin AntibodyNBP3-30155] -Detection of human SYNM by western blot of immunoprecipitates. Samples: Whole cell lysate (0.5 or 1.0 mg per IP reaction; 20% of IP loaded) from HeLa cells prepared using NETN lysis buffer. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-SYNM antibody NBP3-30155 (lot NBP3-30155-1) used for IP at 6 µg per reaction. SYNM was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-SYNM.. For blotting immunoprecipitated SYNM, NBP3-30155 was used at 0.4 µg/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 30 seconds.

Background: alpha Desmuslin

alpha Desmuslin is encoded by this gene is an intermediate filament (IF) family member. IF proteins are cytoskeletal proteins that confer resistance to mechanical stress and are encoded by a dispersed multigene family. This protein has been found to form a linkage between desmin, which is a subunit of the IF network, and the extracellular matrix, and provides an important structural support in muscle. Two alternatively spliced variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene.
