Background: HMGB1/HMG-1

High mobility group box1 protein (HMGB1) is a very abundant chromatin-binding protein residing in the eukaryotic cell nucleus and acting in the assembly of nucleoprotein complexes. Inside the cell, HMGB1 binds to DNA and has a role in transcriptional regulation. Outside the cell, HMGB1 acts as a cytokine and has activities that resemble those of tumor necrosis factor. Recombinant human HMGB1 was expressed in High Five insect cells and purified by conventional chromatography techniques.

FAQs for Recombinant Human HMGB1/HMG-1 His Protein

Showing  1 - 2 of 2 FAQs Showing All
  • Q: Are both of these proteins any carrier protein free? HMG1L10 Protein (Catalog # P3789) and HMGB1 Protein (catalog # NBC1-18488)

A: These proteins are carrier free. Catalog # P3789 is supplied in 50 mM HEPES, 100mM NaCl, pH 7.5 (30% glycerol, 30 mM Glutathione, 0.5% TritonX-100, 1 mM dithiothreitol). Catalog #NBC1-18488 is supplied in liquid in 20mM Tris pH 8.0, 1mM EDTA, 0.5mM DTT, 10% glycerol.

  • Q: I am looking for the recombinant human HMGB-1 which we would like to use for cultured human intervertebral disc cells in vitro. 1)Is your HMGB-1 protein NBC1-18488 already sterilized? 2)Are there some articles in which NBC1-18488 is used for human cultured cells in vitro?

A: NBC1-18488 is not sterilized, and may not be suitable for use in live cells. We have only approved this protein to work for ELISA and western blot, and have not assessed its biological activity. As such, we do not have any references that cite this product in cell culture.
