N^α-Methylhistamine dihydrochloride is a potent histamine agonist, particularly at H₃ receptors (potency relative to histamine is 81, 185, and 270% at H₁, H₂ and H₃ respectively). Also displays agonist properties at H₄ receptors to which it binds with moderate affinity (K_i = 23 nM).
