Western Blot:[NBP3-30486]-Detection of human PGBD1 by western blot and immunoprecipitation. Samples: Whole cell lysate from HeLa, HEK293T and Jurkat cells. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-PGBD1 antibody used for WB at 0. 4 µg/ml and 1 µg/ml and used for IP at 6 µg/mg lysate. PGBD1 was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-PGBD1 antibody, which recognizes a downstream epitope. Detection: Chemiluminescence with exposure times of 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

Background: PGBD1

The piggyBac family of proteins, found in diverse animals, are transposases related to the transposase of the canonical piggyBac transposon from the moth, Trichoplusia ni. This family also includes genes in several genomes, including human, that appear to have been derived from the piggyBac transposons. This gene belongs to the subfamily of piggyBac transposable element derived (PGBD) genes. The PGBD proteins appear to be novel, with no obvious relationship to other transposases, or other known protein families. This gene product is specifically expressed in the brain, however, its exact function is not known. [provided by RefSeq]
