Application Notes

WB: Preliminary experiments gave an approx. 49 kDa band in human testis and rat testis lysates after 1 ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 56.4 kDa band according to NP_NP_742013.1 and of 59.7 kDa band according to NP_067076.2. The 49 kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide.

Background: RNF23

This protein is a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes three zinc-binding domains, a RING, a B-box type 1 and a B-box type 2, and a coiled-coil region. The function of this protein has not been identified. This gene lies within the major histocompatibility complex class I region on chromosome 6. Alternate splicing results in two transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
