Simple Plex Mouse/Rat Cystatin C Cartridge Summary

Simple Plex assay is for the detection of mouse and rat Cystatin C in serum, plasma (EDTA/Heparin), and urine in Sample Diluent SD09. *Heparin plasma is validated for mouse samples only.

*The Sample Volume represented is based on the amount of sample incorporated into the reaction after taking into account the assay's minimum required dilution for a given matrix. Serial dilution may be necessary to achieve some of the final sample volumes represented.

Background: Cystatin C

Cystatin C is a secreted cysteine protease inhibitor that inhibits Cathepsins B, H, K, L, and S. Cystatin C serum concentration correlates closely to the glomerular filtration rate (GFR); elevated levels are associated with coronary artery and cardiovascular disease risk. Dysregulation of Cystatin C can modulate tumor growth and metastasis. In humans, the L68Q variant forms dimers and oligomers more easily than wild type protein and is the cause for hereditary Cystatin C amyloid angiopathy.
