HARS2 Proteins and Enzymes

The HARS2 gene encodes a 506 amino acid, 56kDA probable histidine--tRNA ligase (mitochondrial) protein that is member to the II family of aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases which charge tRNA with cognate amino acids. The HARS2 gene is located in a head-to-head orientation with HARS on chromosome 5, which is the location of where homologous genes share a bidirectional promoter.
