OX1 Receptor Agonists Small Molecules and Peptides

The OX₁ receptors, also known as hypocretin receptor 1, are located primarily in the ventromedial hypothalamus, locus coeruleus, median raphe, hippocampus and taenia tecta where they are thought to regulate sleep-wakefulness and energy homeostasis. The OX₁ receptor displays higher affinity for Orexin A over Orexin B. The human OX₁ receptor gene has been localized to chromosome 1 (1p33).
