Oxytocin receptors (OT) are G-protein-coupled receptors that mediate parturition and lactation. They are closely related to vasopressin receptors. Oxytocin receptors are coupled to G_q/11 proteins and are localized to the myoepithelial cells of the mammary gland, and are also expressed in the myometrium and endometrium of the uterus at the end of pregnancy.
