Western blot shows lysates of HeLa human cervical epithelial carcinoma cell line and Hepa 1-6 mouse hepatoma cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 2 µg/mL of Mouse Anti-Human Snapin Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB7795) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF007). A specific band was detected for Snapin at approximately 15 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 1.

Background: Snapin

Snapin (SNARE-associated protein) is an approximately 15 kDa, 136 amino acid vesicular phosphoprotein that contains a coiled-coil interacting domain. In neurons, it binds SNAP25 and RGS7 and regulates steps between synaptic vesicle docking and neurotransmitter release. In pancreatic beta cells, it mediates incretin-stimulated insulin secretion. In germ cells, it binds PUM2 and Nanos1 as a putative adaptor protein. Human Snapin shares 98% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat Snapin, while mouse and rat Snapin share 100% aa sequence identity with each other.
