Immunoprecipitation: ALMS1 Antibody [NB100-97824] - Detection of Human ALMS1 by Western Blot of immunoprecipitated. Sample: Whole cell lysate (1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded) from HeLa cells. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti- ALMS1 antibody (NB100-97824) used for IP at 3 mcg/mg lysate. ALMS1 was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti-ALMS1 antibody (NB100-97823), which recognizes an upstream epitope. For blotting immunoprecipitated NB100-97823 was used at 0.1 mcg/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with exposure time of 30 seconds.

Background: ALMS1

Mutations in the ALMS1 gene are the cause of Alstrom syndrome, a rare autosomal recessive disease characterized by type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, cardiomyopathy, and neurosensory defects such as cone-rod retinal dystrophy, and hearing loss. In the cell, ALMS1 localizes to basal bodies of ciliated cells and centrosomes and is thus a member of proteins associated with genetic ciliopathies. ALMS1 is also known as KIAA0328 and ALSS.
