Background: Digoxigenin

Digoxygenin (DIG) is a steroid that is produced by foxglove plants of the genus Digitalis. DIG is commonly used as a hapten that is conjugated to proteins to improve immunogenicity. It can also be conjugated to nucleic acids or saccharides as a label for detection with anti-DIG antibodies.
