Background: EIF4A3

EIF4A3 (Eukaryotic initiation factor 4A-III) belongs to the DEAD box helicase family and eIF4A subfamily. DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are implicated in a number of cellular processes involving alteration of RNA secondary structure, such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. EIF4A3 is a component of a splicing-dependent multiprotein exon junction complex (EJC) deposited at splice junction on mRNAs. Recombinant human EIF4A3 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

FAQs for Recombinant Human EIF4A3 His Protein

Showing  1 - 2 of 2 FAQs Showing All
  • Q: For NBP1-78833, EIF4A3 protein, the product information says to store at 4C short term or aliquot and store at -20C long term. Due to the 30% glycerol in storage buffer, it does not freeze at -20C. Most enzymes require storage at -80C for stability. Do you have data to suggest that the protein is stable at -20C? Do you have data to suggest that it is NOT stable for storage at -80C with freeze/thaw?

A: You can store long term at -80C. You are quite right that the addition of glycerol will protect the protein from freeze-thaw damage but it will not freeze at -20C. Storage at -80C for long term in aliquots will be better.

  • Q: Is the His-tag on #NBP1-78833 EIF4A3 protein on the n-term or the c-term?

A: The His tag on this protein is located on the N-terminus.
