Background: GPRC5B

GPRC5B is an Orphan-C GPCR induced by retinoids. GPRC5B shows some homologies to the metabotropic glutamate receptor-like family of GPCRs; however, the GPRC5B protein has a short N-terminal domain compared to other family C members. GPRC5B expression is reported to be widespread with highest levels observed in brain, kidney, pancreas and testis. ESTs have been isolated from a wide variety of human tissue libraries, including normal adrenal, brain, heart/melanocyte/uterus and pineal, and cancerous germ cell, nerve, ovary and parathyroid.
