GPR10 is a 7-transmembrane domain receptor for prolactin-releasing hormone that is highly expressed in anterior pituitary. This G protein-coupled receptor is localized to areas of the brain. The GPR10 gene is specifically regulated by a neuron-restrictive silencer element (NRSE). GPR10 is implicated in lactation, regulation of food intake and pain-signal processing. The high expression of GPR10 in pheochromocytomas suggests potential pathophysiological roles of GPR10 in these tumors.
