Background: MIG2
MIG2 (mitogen-inducible gene-2), also known as FERMT2 or Kindlin-2, is an approximately 80 kDa, 680 amino acid (aa), ubiquitously expressed member of the Fermitin/Kindlin family of cytoplasmic adaptor proteins. MIG2 is essential for beta 1 and beta 3 integrin activity due to its interactions with regulatory molecules such as talin and ILK. MIG2 contains two FERM domains (aa 285-326 and aa 524-573) and one pleckstrin homology domain (aa 373-478). Within the region used as an immunogen, human MIG2 shares 98% aa identity with mouse and rat MIG2. Two isoforms (687 aa and 633 aa) have a 7 aa insert after aa 534. The shorter isoform also has a 2 aa substitution for the C-terminal 57 aa of the 680 aa form.
