OASIS (old astrocyte specifically-induced substance) is a 57‑60 kDa member of the CREB/ATF family of transcription factors. Human OASIS is 519 amino acids (aa) in length. It is an ER transmembrane protein with a cytosolic N-terminus (aa 1‑374) and a luminal C‑terminus. The N-terminus contains one b-Zip region (aa 292‑353). Misfolded proteins in the ER induce proteolytic cleavage of OASIS. The released 66 kDa N-terminus translocates to the nucleus to activate stress response genes. There is one alternate splice form that shows a deletion of aa 112‑198. Over aa 1‑111, human OASIS shares 96% aa sequence identity with mouse OASIS.

Scientific Data Images for Human OASIS/CREB3L1 Antibody
Detection of Human OASIS/CREB3L1 by Western Blot.
Western blot shows lysates of human brain tissue. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Goat Anti-Human OASIS/CREB3L1 Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF4080) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF019). A specific band was detected for OASIS/CREB3L1 at approximately 57 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted under reducing conditions and using Immunoblot Buffer Group 8.
Detection of Human OASIS/CREB3L1 by Immunohistochemistry
CREB3L1 is required for metastasis and is upregulated in the metastases of breast cancer patients. a A quantification of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) per ml of blood from NOD/SCID mice 7 weeks after being transplanted with MDA.MB.231-Luc-LM2 cells transduced with shRNAs targeting LacZ or CREB3L1, n = 5. b Lung metastases of the animals in a were quantified (top) by radiance of the whole lung in each animal, n = 5. Total radiance was also imaged (bottom). c Lung metastases of the animals in a was gauged by immunohistochemistry staining for GFP-positive cancer cells in lung sections. GFP area per field was quantified (top) and imaged (bottom), n = 10,10,9 for Ctrl, sh1, and sh2, respectively (scale bar: 40 µm). d Expression of CREB3L1 in 529 primary breast cancer tissues and 45 breast cancer metastases (GSE20565, GSE20685, GSE7904, and GSE3744) shown as a box-and-whiskers plot. e Immunohistochemical staining for CREB3L1 in a tissue microarray containing primary breast cancer tissues (left, n = 50) and breast cancer metastases in lymph nodes (middle, n = 50). Nuclear CREB3L1 levels were quantified (right). Scale bar: 40 µm. Data are represented as mean ± SEM or the mean alone. * indicates p < 0.05; ** indicates p < 0.01 (Student’s t-test) Image collected and cropped by CiteAb from the following publication (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29057869), licensed under a CC-BY license.
