Application Notes
Western blot: Preliminary experiments gave an approx. 70kDa band in lysates of cell line HepG2 after 0.3ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 25kDa according to NP_005577.1. The 70kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide.

Background: MDFI

MDFI is a transcription factor that negatively regulates other myogenic family proteins. Studies of the mouse homolog, I-mf, show that it interferes with myogenic factor function by masking nuclear localization signals and preventing DNA binding. Knockout mouse studies show defects in the formation of vertebrae and ribs that also involve cartilage formation in these structures. [provided by RefSeq]
