Background: MMRN2

The MMRN2 gene encodes a 949 amino acid long, 104 kDA multimerin-2 protein that prevents endothelial cells motility. The elastic microfibril interface-located (EMILIN) protein family is an extracellular matrix glycoprotein. Additionally, this protein acts as a negative regulator of angiogenesis by downregulating activation by binding VEGFA. MMRN2 has been linked to adenocarcinoma and skin cancer as it participates in MAPK signaling, PTEN pathway, transendothelial migration of leukocytes, and UPA-UPAR pathway. It has been known to interact with genes VDR, MAPK7, MAP3K3, and DAXX.
